Day 1 - Jemaa El Fna square, Souks & Koutoubia Mosque

I started off my day by visiting Jemaa El Fna square, the heart of the city. The square was bustling with activity - street performers, vendors selling traditional Moroccan goods, and local street food.

I then made my way to the Medina, the old city, and explored the souks. The narrow winding streets were filled with shops selling everything from spices and textiles to pottery and jewellery. I was in awe of the vibrant colours and intricate designs.

One of the highlights of my day was visiting the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech. The mosque was built in the 12th century and its minaret is the tallest in the city. The architecture was absolutely stunning and it was a privilege to be able to see it up close.

Day 2 - Jardin Majorelle, Yves Saint Laurent Museum & Ben Youssef Madrasa

My second day in Marrakech was just as captivating as the first. I started my morning by visiting Jardin Majorelle, a beautiful garden created by French painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s. The garden was filled with exotic plants and vibrant blue buildings, making it the perfect spot for a peaceful stroll.

Next, I visited the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, which was a real treat for me. The museum is dedicated to the famous fashion designer and it was fascinating to see the various pieces and designs he created throughout his career.

In the afternoon, I returned to the old city to visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa. This is one of the most important Islamic schools in North Africa and was built in the 14th century. I was struck by the intricate tilework, stucco and wood carvings, it was indeed a marvel of Islamic architecture. It was a great way to end my day and left me with a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Marrakech
